The Princess of the Moon: The Tale of Kaguya

por Alfredo Rosadilla

Sometimes, the people we love most come from far away... and one day they must return.

This work is based on «Taketori Monogatari» (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter), a Japanese work in the public domain written more than 1,100 years ago, considered the oldest narrative in Japanese literature. Long, long ago, in a bamboo forest bathed in moonlight, an old man found something impossible: a tiny baby, bright as a star, sleeping inside a bamboo stalk. They called her Kaguya, and from the moment she arrived, everything changed. Flowers opened when she laughed. Birds sang when she cried. And the moon... the moon always watched over her. This is the oldest and most beautiful story from Japan: the story of a girl who came from the moon, who filled an empty home with love, who made princes and emperors weep with her beauty, and who one day had to make the most difficult decision in the universe. A tale to read aloud, to hold tight whoever is near, and to remember that true love never disappears... not even when someone has to go very far away.
